Jammal

Our Story

It all started over a hundred years ago. In the south of the old town of Batroun, Jammal’s great grandfather decided to build his tobacco factory in a peaceful cove shaded with palm trees.

In the early 1930’s, the factory was converted to the now Jammal family house. Right here, three generation were born and raised to the sound of the waves and the taste of sea urchins.

Being abroad for a while, Joe Jammal flew back home in 1981. As “bon vivant” himself, one day Joe put a table in the water for a fish BBQ and invited family and friends. Later this year, on June 19th, waiters, cooks, bartenders, DJs, fish, salads and mezze rocked the first beach party at Jammal. A star was born.

1990’s arrived and Summer after summer, the ideas came and evolved.

The restaurant began to serve a selective choice of specialty mezzes with a main focus on buying and using only the best quality of Lebanese fish and seafood from the local fisheries. The menu was refined and redefined, with the help of chefs and the experience of Nicholas Jammal, Joe’s younger brother.

Joe’s dream finally came true. A restaurant where you can come by boat and get ferried to shore where you sit with your feet in the waters and enjoy the day sipping on the finest wines.

Today, we invite you to sit back under our palm trees and enjoy like many did. Comein early morning for a homemade breakfast, for lunch on the Mediterranean, or a cozy dinner at beautiful sunset and hot summer nights.
